Hello all you people!

Yes I know. I am as bad as it gets at keeping up on the posts on my web site! Things have been well since the mid summer check in. Everclear finished out the late summer/early fall season with another handful of festivals and college shows.

As most of you know the band has parted ways with label and management and the cycle for Welcome to the Drama Club is over. It's unfortunate because we all feel that we made a very good record and are sad that it didn't get a better shot at success, but this is a tough business and ya just learn to roll with it!

We have a new management company in Strategic Artist Management. We're all excited about the change and feeling really hopeful about the future!

I've continued working hard on my material with a couple of NW musicians that are really talented people. Eliot Freed is drumming and I have Eric Wolf playing some bass. We will be heading into the studio soon and I think we'll even play a show or two... I'll keep you posted!

I've recorded bass tracks for a couple more albums and am always trying to keep myself busy. Hope y'all had a good Halloween and are staying well.

Ciao for now,

Sammy

Mid-Summer Check In

Greetings!
I'll begin with my mandatory apology for being so lame at keeping up with more frequent posts on my site. I have been ( as I hope y'all are) enjoying the Summer months. We've played just a handful of shows in July and only a couple booked for August, so I've had ample time for the summer type things that are totally the good stuff in life!
These past couple of months have also had me very focused on songwriting and I'll be heading into the studio by late summer or early fall to start tracking tunes. I'll be working with several different musicians and a couple different singers on this project and I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing with the material when it's finished. I am, however, enjoying writing with no particular agenda, It's a much different approach than I've had in the past!
A bit of session work has come my way lately as well and I'll put up some new songs on the music page as they come available!
Hope your summer stays good and don't forget the sunscreen like I have....twice!

Back Home

Tour was awesome! Had a chance to meet alot of great people and see some really beautiful parts of Canada. Have to say too that coming home to my own town for the final show was amazing!! The fans, family and friends were the best homecoming party that I've ever experienced..thanks again to all for supporting the tour!
Once again I will promise pictures in short order and fail at delivering them in a timely manner, but y'all know that I will post them...eventually.
June has us playing every weekend so we'll be seeing some of you sooner than later, which is always good!
Hope your Memorial Weekend is a good one...

4 show's to go

This has been an amazing trip! Since my last post I did manage a first as a pro musician.....I fell on stage! And it was not graceful, it was a full on fall that had me flat on my back! I did recover with a triumphent, super star, Spinal Tap, both hands raised in the air in victory pose, that brought much praise from the crowd. Always happy when my humility brings joy to the masses :-) !!!!
Had a great night off in Edmonton. The boy's from Tupelo Honey (who are from there) hosted a bbq, Alberta beef is totally delicous. Then we had a tri-band bowling tourney that had yours truely winning the second game. We won't talk about the first one.
After a sweaty rock show in Calgary, we had the self-proclaimed Paris Hilton of Canada host a private party for the band and friends at a great Italian restaurant (whose name I can't remeber but will post later). The owner opened up some amazing wines and served up great penne, scallops, and mussells. The night also saw Davey, Art and D-Rock donning the offical chef's clothing. Pic's of this moment are definately forth coming.
I can't say enough about the Canadian crowds. They are totally fantastic! From the crazines of the oil town's audiences, to the stunning beauty of Banff in the Canadian Rockies, this is truely a tour to remeber.

See ya on the State side...

Wicked Eh....

Howdy from Saskatoon. Five shows in and all is well! It's really been great to be up north again. Did'nt know what to expect from Mom Nature up here, but it's been beautiful! Had a great drive yesterday through the North Woods that was particularly stunning.
My adventures in eating have been limited, but Brett and I did try a dish called poutine (fries, gravy and cheese curd)...interesting to be sure. Have yet to sample the ketchup flavored potato chips.
These Canadian crowds are chalk full of rockers! Many of these shows are sell-outs and a packed house is always a good time. The opening acts are excellent too. Marianas Trench is a pop rock outfit that has totally amazing vocals, they can all sing for days. Tupelo Honey is a heavier band with a great groove.
I'm off to sound check...totally wicked eh?

Eve before Canada tour

Just readyin' myself for the next run...ya know laundry, down-sizing all my toiletries and all the exciting things that make traveling such a treat!!!
My pro career sort of started in Canada in a round about way and I have'nt traveled extensively through there in some time, should be fun!
I changed up some of the songs on a few of the players and added a new section on the music page dedicated to session work I've been doing, check it out!
I'll post from the road and will add new pic's when we return. Hope to see your face's at the shows!

New pic's up

Got a few new pic's up for ya'll, will get some more up soon. If anybody has pic's of the band, e-mail them to me through this site; sam@sammyhudson.com. I'll check 'em out and put up the good ones. I'll be posting some new tunes of other work that I've done recently as well.
Played in Tempe last weekend with the Fray and OAR, great show! About twenty thousand people in attendence. AZ this time of year has kikcin' weather! The week before's show in MI was good too, waaay up north...but a crazy crowd totally made the trip worth it!!
Couple weeks off for Easter and then gearin' up for the Canadian tour...
Happy egg hunting rockers!...
Sammy

p.s. I don't really smoke, as seen in one of the new pic's...it was purely for effect. Don't try this at home kid's!
